SPA, SPRING and SAKURA
You may just need a spark of inspiration from life abroad, from nature around you or from the many ongoing trends to keep going and to grow your business.
In the race towards differentiation and profit maximising, you need to have a marketing calendar for your spa.
The suppliers, you work with, suggest monthly product promotions which shouldn’t be underestimated in order to get your activity up and running and to increase your sales. Moreover you too probably have plenty of ideas to add to your calendar. But is that enough and do you happen to have the time to implement them?
Your loyal customers get easily bored. To make your spa the place to be there is nothing better than to offer them something different inspired by global trends.
No need to speak about the mainstream feasts and holidays (mother’s and father’s day, Valentine’s day, Christmas, New Year, Easter …) and the international days (Women’s day, sleep day, day of the earth …). I suggest to inspire you with Japan.
Why not introduce your customers with the customs, beauty products and wellness rituals coming from the country of the rising sun. If Japan is not your cup of tea, I’m sure you will still find some interesting ideas you could taylor to your spa. Do you know that Japan is one of the countries in the world with the most feasts (matsuri) and days off? They are sourced in Bouddhism and Shintoism and show respect and bounds that Japanese people have with nature, elderly, their children and their country.
I’d like to share with you Shunbun no Hi, Spring equinox. In Japan, the arrival of spring matches with the cherry blossoms (sakura) which we can’t stop admiring (hanami). At that time of the year, parcs are crowded with people having picnic under the trees. Life takes the colour of Sakura and everything tastes sakura: shopwindow are all pink, as are flyers, menus, drinks, cakes and all sort of delicious meals and not to forget cosmetic products. Cherry blossom is not only a flower. It symbolises a time of renewal and the fleeting nature of life. It’s also a cosmetic ingredient that reveals a blooming lovely complexion and promotes a smooth, supple skin. Sakura is ideal for a mature skin, therapeutically regenerative, it is anti-aging, whitening and is an anti-glycation agent which promotes collagen formation in fibroblasts. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can also help to lighten uneven pigmentation, due to sun exposure, by inhibiting the production of melanin. It cleansed the skin of toxins to leave a brightened, healthy skin.
Please find attached a few pictures which say a lot about this ‘vie en rose’! If you don’t sell any cosmetics with cherry blossom extract, what about highlighting Japan with a Shiatsu massage, a bath with Sakura blossoms and a Sakura-cha (cheery blossom infusion) or a cherry blossom Japanese green tea ?
Wherever you live, the arrival of spring feels good! Don’t you think? In every country you find fruit trees which bloom in spring and all kind of flowers… So it’s time to bring the spring spirit in your spa your own way!
And if Pink is not your favorite color, what about following the green trend (globalwellnesstrend 2019) and bring in nature? It could be a small bio market place, a plant wall in your waiting area or diffusing green aromas (my favorite one from Japan of course: Hinoki, Japanese Cypress) and offering green tea of all sorts. Matcha (green tea powder) from Japan which is very popular right now would be perfect. And not only as a drink but also as cosmetics.
Whatever the ideas you will choose for your calendar, it must be in line with your values. I decided to exaggerate a bit here but it’s just to show you that there are plenty of ideas. It’s all about promoting them the right way with the right communication tools to create consistency and get the best return on investment. Don’t hesitate to be creative but don’t forget to measure your results!
And if you come short of ideas or if you need some help, don’t hesitate to contact GlobalSpaTouch to put in place an original calendar in harmony with your values.
